Brent Schneider and Repertory Dance Theatre's LINK Series present Perspectives: Men, Motion and Media, a provocative evening of digitally infused dance and performance.

Join us for an innovative evening of dance, theatre, sculpture, and video exploring many facets of men on stage.  Mr. Schneider draws on his varied background in modern dance, musical theatre, and folk dance, and combines this experience with his interests in video and digital imaging.   His choreography blurs the distinctions between theatre and dance while seamlessly integrating layers of video projections with the live performers.  He is fortunate to be working with a cast of very talented men who add their creative input to the choreography for the program.

Visual artist Eugene Tachinni will contribute to the evening with the installation of his large-scale, mixed-media work, I wanted to walk next to him.... Originally from New Mexico, one of nine children, Mr Tachinni moved to Salt Lake City 16 years ago and recently completed an MFA in Photography at the University of Utah. He describes himself as Navajo, Mormon, and Gay, three identities that influence his art making.   "Each of these identities plays a dramatic role in how I respond to the world," explains Tachinni, "and, of course, the three many times sit in contradiction. My work is about coming to some sort of reconciliation. I don't expect for the three to ever totally mesh, I don't think they ever will."

Men, Motion and Media will be performed at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center (138 W 300 S, in Salt Lake City) September 7-9, 2006 at 8:00 pm and is recommended for mature audiences.  The evening is presented through Repertory Dance Theatre’s LINK series, which fosters the development of choreography while providing opportunities to emerging and established artists by sponsoring presentations of their works. The project is funded in part by Salt Lake County’s Zoo, Arts & Parks program, the Utah Arts Council, and the Salt Lake City Arts Council, with additional funding from the University of Utah College of Fine Arts Creative Research Award and the Department of Modern Dance.

Tickets are $15 ($10 for students and seniors) and are available through ArtTix by calling 801-355-ARTS or visiting www.ArtTix.org
